Philmont 2012
Troop 382 has been selected as part of the BAC Philmont Contingent scheduled to depart for Philmont on July 10, 2012 and return on July 23, 2012. There is very limited availability of 9 total scouts and 3 adults for this trip. As of 08/23/11, there are 4 scout spots and 1 adult spot. The trip will be led by Mr. Halla, Mr. White and the third adult participant. Anyone interested in joining the "Philmont Crew" should download the permission slip and application forms and a return them as soon as possible.
Scouts must be 14 years old or 13 and have completed the 8th grade and be First Class by the start of the Philmont trip. The scout must also participate in the training activities prior to leaving for Philmont. We are currently devising a training program for all the participants so that we are all in proper shape for the trip. This will include at least monthly hikes or backpacking trips and conditioning activities. Members of the Philmont Crew are also expected to participate in fund raising activities to help offset the cost of the trip. Fundraising activities include Popcorn Sales, car washes and other activities.
Positions for the scouts will be on a first come basis. The scout must have his first payment with attached permission form. We will also have a waiting list in case a scout drops out or the crew decides that his physical conditioning my compromise the safety of the crew. If a scout drops out, he will be replaced by the next scout on the waiting list. Scouts on the waiting list will be required to make the initial $375 payment. If a spot opens up, he will be responsible for the back payments that the dropping scout had made minus the initial $375 payment.
